At least now we have an ideal why our education system is not work the way it ought to be A total of 134 applicants, who recently applied for teaching appointment with the Kebbi State government, presented fake certificates, an official said, Tuesday. The state Commissioner for Science and Technical Education, Alhaji Muhammadu Ruwa, who disclosed this in Birnin Kebbi, noted that the applicants were among those denied employment by the government. Ruwa, also the chairman of the recruitment committee, said 8,266 of a total of 8,600 applicants were successful. He said the government needed 11,766 teachers for its schools, but only 8,600 turned up for the recruitment interview. The commissioner also said that 200 applicants failed to meet the requirements for the employment besides the 134 who presented fake certificates. He said that the report of the exercise would be submitted to Gov. Saidu Dakingari for ratification and issuance of letters of appointment to the successful applicants. Ruwa said that deployment of the teachers would be determined by the needs of each school adding that the recruitment was to address the dearth of teachers in the state
